Dr. Joel Newburg is the owner/operator of Newburg Spine & Sports and has been since January of 2019. Originally from Portville, NY, he earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science at SUNY Fredonia and interned with Dr. Root, the previous owner of the business. Spending time in the office with Dr. Root solidified Joel’s aspirations of becoming a chiropractor. Following undergrad, he went to New York Chiropractic College and earned his Doctor of Chiropractic in 2017. He practiced as a licensed chiropractor under Dr. Root for one year prior to buying the business and operating solo. He now lives in Dunkirk with his wife Lindsey, daughter Josephine, and their two dogs.
We make sure that every new patient is examined in a thorough manner through subjective presentation, orthopedic/neurologic/functional evaluations. This will provide us with the information to build a unique care plan for each individual.
We provide spinal manipulation to reduce pain, increase range of motion, and aid the healing process. This is effective for many different conditions of the spine. We do also provide alternative and gentler forms of manipulation including flexion/distraction and activator technique.
We use a variety of techniques to massage muscles which help to aid in your healing process. Some soft tissue techniques are very gentle, while others are deeper and meant to break up scar tissue and adhesion of the muscles. This may include hands on treatment, cupping, theragun or scraping.
We have a mechanical traction table that can be utilized for both the cervical and lumbar spine. This helps to decompress discs and create more space around spinal nerve roots when experiencing pain from the neck/back to the upper/lower extremity.
We build unique exercise programs for each of our patients to increase range of motion, flexibility, strength and reduce pain. Exercises are given specifically to get you back to your typical activities of daily living.

Dr. Joel Newburg believes in a holistic approach to healing. While you will get adjusted when you come for a visit, you will also get advanced treatments that complement the adjustment. These treatments are often in the form of soft tissue and muscle manipulation techniques which focus on utilizing the complex neurology of the human body to heal itself.
